Common Pleas candidates announce slate ahead of Democratic Party Endorsement
Henry-Taylor, Middleman and Pappas campaigns align to promote judicial confidence, independence

Allegheny County, PA – Today, three top Common Pleas candidates endorsed each other in an unprecedented formation of an independent slate and grassroots effort to elect like-minded judicial candidates to the local bench.

Attorneys Nicola Henry-Taylor, Lisa Middleman and District Judge Mik Pappas announced a reform-minded slate that will collectively mobilize volunteers and host joint petitioning events in the coming weeks.

The three candidates bring diverse personal and professional backgrounds and perspectives; they have decades of collective experience serving within the family division, criminal division, and as a Magisterial District Judge. Together, they share a commitment to bringing confidence and equity to our local justice system.

This coalition is the result of weeks of input from volunteers, organizers, and local leaders across Allegheny County. With dozens of candidates seeking at least 9 open positions within the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, this effort will streamline the process for activists and volunteers.

“With nine seats available on the court, its composition has the potential to look very different after this election. We are working together to make sure the court’s direction benefits everyone.” said Henry-Taylor.

“My conversations with people all over the county have made clear the need to fully engage the community in the vision of a legal system that provides fairness and equity to all.” said Middleman.

“We’re standing in solidarity with each other and people all over Allegheny County whose families and freedoms depend on a fair and independent local justice system,” Pappas added.
